It’s 7:30 am. Chai in one hand, phone in the other. Before you leave home, you could call the plant manager and hear “Everything is fine, sir.” Or you could spend ten minutes with seven reports and know it’s fine.
Here’s the morning routine we recommend to every crusher owner.

1. Yesterday’s dispatch summary (1 minute)
Total trips, total tonnage, split by product. Watch for: a sudden drop with no reason, such as a breakdown, rain or a holiday. Unexplained drops deserve a phone call.
2. Cash vs sales (2 minutes)
Cash sales recorded vs cash deposited or in hand. Watch for: any gap at all. Cash gaps rarely fix themselves.
3. Customer outstanding (2 minutes)
Who owes what, and for how long. Watch for: customers who keep lifting material while old dues grow.
Outstanding that is older than your usual credit period is not a sale yet. It’s a loan you didn’t agree to.
4. Diesel issued vs work done (1 minute)
Litres issued to each machine yesterday. Watch for: a machine that suddenly needs more fuel for the same work. It’s either pilferage or a maintenance problem, and both cost money. More on this in How to Stop Diesel Theft in Quarry Tippers and Loaders.
5. Random slip check (2 minutes)
Open three random weighment slips and look at the camera photos. Watch for: missing photos, mismatched trucks, or loads that look heavier than billed.
6. Product mix vs rates (1 minute)
Are you selling more low-rate products than usual? Watch for: high-value material being billed as cheaper grades.
7. Expenses posted (1 minute)
Spares, consumables and repairs entered yesterday. Watch for: repeat purchases of the same part, and big expenses with no note.
Why this works
People at the plant quickly learn that the owner looks at the numbers every single day. That alone changes behaviour. Then the reports do the rest: they surface problems while they are small.

FAQ
Can my plant manager follow the same routine?
Yes. When the owner and manager read the same reports every morning, there’s far less to argue about.
My manager already sends a daily summary. Isn’t that enough?
A summary someone types is not the same as a report the system produces. Trust, but verify.
